Welcome to Badger's Beads
The online gallery of
lampwork and seed bead artist CJ Bagley.
[This site is dedicated to the loving memory of Gladys Bettelyoun of Wanblee, SD]
I have always loved glass...its vibrant colors, textures, and its ability to be formed into almost anything the imagination can dream of. In the early 1990's I moved beyond sheer admiration to a working relationship with this wonderful medium. My journey began as a seed bead artist and came about as a result of my love of Native American tradition and culture. I specialize in loom woven work as well as peyote stitch. It has been my great fortune to learn some techniques and history of beadwork in Native culture directly from the People; most specifically that of the Oglala Lakota of Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. My love of glass also included lampworked beads and in 2007 I finally took the plunge and signed up for my first beadmaking class at a local craft center. Needless to say with the first wrap of melted glass on the mandrel I was hooked! Those first beads weren't very good of course but they still make me smile and remind me of the day I came "home" to the magic and wonder of this amazing medium.
So I invite you to stroll through my online galleries and thank you for taking the time to visit and explore~
